Date May 1979.
Domra is a Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian folk stringed plucked musical instrument. Domra has a hemispherical body. The sound of the strings is produced with a pick. Tremolo is a characteristic method of sound production. There are two types of domra: a three-stringed domra with a quart tuning, traditionally used in Russia, and a four-string domra with a quart tuning, which is most widespread in Belarus and Ukraine. Domra is used for solo performance (small domra, prima) and as part of ensembles and orchestras of Russian folk instruments.
Domra was widely used by buffoons in Russia in the 16th-17th centuries as a solo and ensemble ("bass" domra) instrument, but starting from the 17th century, after a number of ecclesiastical and state decrees were issued (one of them in 1648 by Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich "On the correction of morals and the destruction of superstitions "), according to which buffoons were persecuted, the instrument was not used. With the disappearance of the buffoons, the domra also disappeared.
