The Empire State Wine Company was established in 1889 and began producing wines in the 1890s when they opened their winery at Penn Yan, New York (Yates County). The company built a large winery at the north end of Keuka Lake with a stone building in the Georgian Revival style. The building stood until 1990 when it was demolished to build a hotel. The company exhibited several of their wines at the 1900 Paris Exposition, and won awards for their wines. The Empire State Winery was located in the Finger Lakes region of New York, which was the capital of the American wine production in the early 1900s. (see attached photos of the Empire State winery)
