of my favorite loves and developed a line of High-End Bolo Tie Neck-Wear.
For a “modern sexy approach,” they can be also be worn inside an
unbuttoned shirt or stretched to their longest point, turning each
piece into a medallion necklace of unusual interest.
With light refracting qualities and geometric structures, this beautiful
mineral will captivate interest under any lighting condition, making it
truly worthy of a Red-Carpet or Performance Event.

The Details~
In warm golden tones throughout, this Quartz Crystal Cluster
looks like it has been dipped in Sparking Honey.
It is simply Dazzling in person, especially in sunlight or under
artificial florescent lighting!
To add further dimension of color, over to the right is Sphalerite
in Pyramid Shapes plus a couple of Gold Tiny Pyrite Cubes
that contribute to the over all luminescent quality.
This Peruvian Mineral Specimen is comprised of;
Black Sphalerite, Golden Pyrite and Snow Capped Quartz Crystals.

The Story~
This distinctive collection is comprised of naturally occurring crystals
that were created during the formation of the High Andes in Peru
about 55-70 million years ago.
Each mineral is considered Show Piece Quality which means the
specimen is intact with little to no damage and of the finest grade
quartz crystal. The intrinsic value for their visual composition,
perfect quality and extreme difficulty of garnering these from
the mines for exportation contributes to their value.
The astounding beauty of each unique specimen is simplistically set
in sterling silver and attached to a .925 silver spring-clasp that allows
for easy maneuverability.
I am the only designer to have machined the spring clasp in sterling silver,
elevating the entire design to be considered in the fine jewelry category.
They are housed on a wire mesh cord that took months of
development to create a durable, long lasting matte finish.
All tips are custom crafted to compliment the over-all specimen.

Occasionally there have been requests to lower the asking price
and for this reason the following information is offered to provide
a fuller perspective.
There was much consideration that went into evaluating each piece for the
retail market. Previously this collection has been sold through Art Galleries
and High-end Jewelry Stores.
For this venue they are coming in just a bit above wholesale to cover
Etsy's fees. In the near-future, there will be necklaces priced much lower
than the current selection which represents, the best of the best.
We all know the cost associated with faceted semi-precious and precious
gem stones. Often someone doesn't understand the intrinsic value of minerals
if they haven't been exposed to the conversation before. Peruvian Minerals
are a timeless investment and will only continue to grow in value, given that
most are Show-Piece Quality.
The following back-story at the end of this listing has been added for a complete
understanding of what it took to bring these pieces into the jewelry market.
The Creation Story~
This was indeed an art project of a lifetime.
To create something from a spark of an idea, started with an investigation
of minerals from every country in the world, until I found the most captivating
and spectacular formations from one region.
Once realizing that Peru offered exactly what I had envisioned, the journey
began. After you finally reach the area in the High Andes where they sell
minerals, there are mountains of rough rock to sift through with a
discerning eye. In most cases they are sold in lots, and you are required
to take the good with the bad. Also, at the time there was major political
unrest throughout these regions which often stalled the entire process
and created unsafe travel.
(When you take into account the travel expenses and arduous time
to procure specimens of this degree, it is nothing short of daunting.
I have yet to recoup my investment from that perspective alone.)
After the selection is determined, each rock is wrapped in toilet paper,
placed into a steel drum and shipped to the US where it can sometimes
wait in customs for several weeks to months. When they arrive they
must be unpacked, sorted and reassessed for their jewelry value.
This sorting process while exciting, takes tedious hours.
Each selected piece is prepared by sanding down the back-side to
create a smooth flat finish. One can only hope that the mineral does
not break into pieces which can often happen if the matrix
(what the minerals are formed onto) is fractured.
From that point, some of them need to lounge in a lime solution for
a couple of days to dissolve any affixed calcification while the rest
require gentle bathing and air drying.
Now we are into the process of evaluating which side goes up and
contemplating best angles that elicit the most beautiful perspective.
Another reflective process that is reassessed numerous times.
Construction judgment comes into play while figuring out where
to place the prongs for their best advantage, visually and structurally.
Then onto another time consuming process to fabricate the
anchoring of sterling silver housing to stone.
The finishing touch is creating tips that are unique, yet demure,
as to not detract from the over-all visual presentation.
We haven't addressed the enormous cost of machining the
bolo-slide -mechanics in sterling silver, or the months dedicated to
wire mesh cord development.
There you have it!
I hope this creates a picture of what went into to each piece.
When you think about it, it's a miracle that they are here,
waiting to be complimented at every occasion they have an outing!
