Thermo Microm HM550 VP Cryostat: Refurbished & Meets Manufacturer Spec
Fully tested and refurbished, this Microm HM 550 VP is verified to work without issue, except that it does not come with the specimen cooling head "O" option. In our testing, we found that the chamber holds a steady temperature of -35°C and microtome operation is smooth.

NOTICE:
The only component that does not function is the specimen cooling head, which has been disconnected.

Thorough Servicing to Ensure Uncompromising Performance
Before its final test, our technical staff performed the following maintenance procedure on this cryostat:
- Recharged refrigeration system (more on that below)
- Replaced compressor and filter dryer
- Realigned handwheel and specimen advance counterweights
- Greased and oiled screw drives and slides
- Verified accuracy of cut with a micrometer
- Repainted entire body
Fully Recharged Refrigeration System
To ensure the refrigeration is operating at manufacturer specification, our technician performs a full evacuation of the refrigeration system and refills the system with new refrigerant. The recharge process involves the following:
- Vent system of refrigerant
- Apply 250 micron vacuum to test for leaks, remove debris, and boil off moisture in lines
- Nitrogen purge three times to clear lines for preventative maintenance
- Refill system with new refrigerant
- Confirm system is operating to manufacturer specification
In Good Condition
This cryostat's body panels have been repainted, leaving only minor wear like chipped paint on the lid. There is some wear on the chamber surfaces from use. We recommend you view the photos for a complete idea of its cosmetics.
Fluorescent Lights Converted to LED
Our technical staff converted the work light from a fluorescent bulb to LED, which is longer-lasting, brighter, and more power-efficient.

Standard Domestic Shipping
Standard shipping methods are chosen at our discretion, either by USPS First-Class, USPS Priority, or UPS Ground. If you opt not to have express shipping, you will receive free shipping on your parcel item. Items three pounds and under are shipped free via USPS, while parcel items above three pounds are shipped free via UPS. Free shipping is only available for the continental United States. Please contact us for a shipping quote if shipping to the following areas: Alaska, Hawaii, other U.S. territories, and international. Tracking numbers are emailed automatically at the end of the business day, once your shipment has left our facility. UPS overnight is only available until 2pm EST in order for us to ship on the same day. Please call to verify we've received your overnight request. Same-day shipping for overnight shipments is not available during holidays or weekends. If you are sending to a PO Box, your purchase must be shipped via USPS-- either First Class, Priority, or Parcel Post -- without exception.

Damaged Shipments
If your item arrives damaged by the shipping carrier, please take clear images before & after opening your package to document the extent of the damage. The claim will require pictures of different angles of the box/crate before opening, and the damaged product(s) after opening. Email us immediately with your order number, found on the top of your invoice, along with the images and we'll begin the claim process.
Local Pickup/Customer Arranged Shipping
Local pickup is available for those arranging their own freight carriers and direct customer pick up. If customers will require packaging for local pickup or shipping arrangements, New Life Scientific can provide packaging. Basic palletization of a product with foam cushioning is . For crating or more significant packaging, please contact us for a quote.
Special Packaging
For high value and high sensitivity items that require special packaging, we use several layers of bubble wrap and shrink wrap to seal the product in a protective bubble so the product always arrives in the condition in which you purchased it. If you check our feedback you will see we never have any of our equipment arrive damaged due to improper packaging!
International shipping
As previously stated, our standard shipping price listed is only good for the continental United States. Contact us for a quote for international shipments. All standard International Shipments do not offer confirmation or insurance, but they can be included for an additional cost. All International customers are responsible for their country's duties & taxes. Please check with your country's requirements before purchasing.
